BASEBALL: HORNETS SOAR PAST FALCONS

The Hornets hosted Cerritos College on Thursday and managed a 6-3 win over the Falcons.

Fullerton put one on the board in the first inning on a stand-up triple to right center by Joey Parente, who went on to score on a SAC fly to right by Austin Case.

FC went up 2-0 in the second on a double that was ripped to right center by Thomas Delgadillo scoring Todd Yost.

The Falcons came back to tie up the game scoring runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Jesus Mercado hit a double scoring Dereck Edwards, and Dominic Bravo crossed home plate on a wild pitch.

The Hornets broke up the 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh when Grant Woodward hit one hard up the middle scoring Trey Carter. FC tacked on three more runs for good measure soon after. Ryan Aguirre knocked in Daniel Tuerffs and Joey Parente. Chase Kerr then knocked in Aguirre.

Cerritos added a lone run in the eighth when Derrick Edwards was walked in on loaded bases, but that was all they could muster up as Garrett Molnar came in to shut down the Falcon bats.

FC's Logan Lannon got the start on the mound throwing a solid 6 innings. Anthony Ali earned his first win on the season putting in 1.1 innings of work, and Molnar grabbed his first save going 1.2 innings.

Up Next: The Hornets (7-3 overall) will play at the College of the Canyons on Tuesday, February 21st at 2:00 pm.
