FOOTBALL: HORNETS SHINE OVER THE COMETS

Fullerton traveled south to Escondido High School to take on Palomar College on Saturday afternoon and won big over the Comets in their final regular season game 42-14.

FC got things going early putting up 14 points in the first quarter. The first TD was a 3 play drive (22-yards) that ended on a 1-yard plunge by QB Trey Tinsley (10:28). The next touchdown came on an 8-play drive (73 yards) that resulted in a 1-yard TD by RB Phillip Butler (5:26).

In the second quarter, Hornet receiver Justin Walker scored on a 29-yard pass by back-up QB Tanner Hodges (3:59).

Palomar scored their first of two TDs in the game on an 18-yard pass by QB Austin Early to Daviante Sayles (1:17).

The Hornets were not done putting up points in the first half as they scored with just 16 seconds left when Katavious Taylor caught a pretty 17-yard pass by Tinsley. Fullerton was up on Palomar a healthy 28-7 at halftime.

FC came out clicking on all cylinders in the second half scoring on another connection from Tinsley to Taylor for a 32-yard strike (7:47).

The Hornet Defense got in on the action in the third quarter when DB Deryck Fletcher picked off Early and returned it to the end zone 40 yards to put FC up 42-7 (3 seconds left in the 3Q).

The Comets got back on the scoreboard with 5:53 left in the game on a slashing 23-yard TD run by RB Garret Fletcher.

From there, Fullerton did their best to run out the clock and finish the regular season on a high note with a nice win over a tough conference opponent.

Up Next: The Hornets (6-4, 3-3) have a bye next week and will await their fate for a possible bowl game on Saturday, November 21st.
