FOOTBALL: BIG TIME WIN AGAINST #10 CANYONS

The #6 Hornets made a statement in their first home Saturday night dismantling #10 College of the Canyons 59-14 in a non-conference match-up.

Fullerton's D'Angelo Ross was outstanding shutting down the Cougar receivers with 2 breakups, 4 tackles, and 2 interceptions that turned the game in FC's favor. Ross took his second pick of the night back for a 34-yard touchdown.

Hornet quarterback Jordan Hoy shined once again producing 5 touchdowns (4 passing and 1 rushing). In the air, Hoy was 16-23 for 206 yards and no interceptions. One the ground he netted 49 yards on 7 carries.

The ground attack was spread out tonight as 11 players ran the ball for Fullerton accumulating 209 yards. The leading rusher was RB Kentavious Thomas who ran for 65 yards on 9 carries.

Hornet receiver DeAndre McNeal made his presence felt as he looked sharp catching 5 passes for 83 yards. His touchdown grab in the first quarter was an impressive pro-style reception over the defender in the end zone.

The game began with a 7-7 tie as FC scored in their first possession (Anthony Wood from 3 yards out). Canyons evened things up with 6:38 left in the first quarter on a 1-yard plunge from QB CJ Williams.

From there Fullerton took over scoring 38 unanswered points in the first half. By halftime the game was out of hand with a score of 45-7.

Up Next: Fullerton (3-0 overall) will take on #8 Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday, September 24th at Covina District Field @ 6:00 pm.
