FOOTBALL: HORNETS BURN MOORPARK

The #3 Hornets came out hot at home Saturday afternoon scorching #11 Moorpark College 62-6 to remain undefeated at 5-0.

Fullerton's defensive unit was impressive today setting the tone of the game scoring 3 touchdowns and holding the Raiders to 91 yards passing and 59 yards rushing. FC held their opponent out of the end zone for the first time this season. Moorpark's only scores came on two late field goals in the fourth quarter. Fullerton had 5 sacks on the day with Tyler Stepney earning 2 of his own. He had 5 tackles while Cole McCarty led the team with 6 tackles (3 solo/3 assisted).

Defensive scores came on a pick-six by Tim Gordon's 52-yard return (his second consecutive game), Deshon Taylor blocked a punt and Andrae Pierman ran it in for six from the 20-yardline, and David Richardson intercepted the ball and ran it back for a 22-yard touchdown.

Offensively, the Hornets looked unstoppable as QB Jordan Hoy threw 3 touchdown passes for 200 yards with no interceptions. RB Phillip Butler led the way on the ground with 64 yards and a TD on 4 carries. RB Kentavious Thomas had 34 yards on 8 carries and Aundre Carter had 27 yards on 4 carries with a TD. Wideout Markus Grossman had another strong outing as he racked up 6 catches for 86 yards with 2 touchdowns. Justin Walker had the prettiest catch of the day, on the 6th play of the game, scoring on a bomb down the sideline for a 46-yard TD.

Up Next: The Hornets (5-0 overall) have a bye next week. They will play again at home (Yorba Linda High) on October 15th against #6 Grossmont College at 1:00 pm.
