FOOTBALL: HONORS & AWARDS FOR THE CHAMPS
The 2016 season has been very good to the Fullerton College football team. Reaping the rewards that come with a state and national championship, many Hornets earned All-Conference and All-America honors.
Freshman quarterback Jordan Hoy had one heck of a season for the Hornets throwing a school-record 37 touchdowns and leading the team in passing with 3,434 yards with only 6 interceptions. He also led the team in rushing with 712 yards and 9 touchdowns. For his efforts, Hoy was selected to the SCFA Southern All-Conference team as the Player of the Year, and to the All-America team as the Offensive Player of the Year.
On defense, freshman standout linebacker Justin Parcells led Fullerton in tackles with 71. He also had 7.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Parcells was named to the All-Conference team as the Defensive Player of the Year. He was also voted in as a first team All-American.
Head Coach Tim Byrnes was named the 2016 SCFA Southern Conference Co-Coach of the Year and the All-America Coach of the Year, as voted on by the California Community College Football Coaches Association. This is Coach Byrnes' sixth conference COY honor in his ninth season as a head coach.
