FOOTBALL: HORNETS TO SPARTANS
Standout Hornet linebackers Justin Parcells and Jamal Scott both signed with San Jose State.
A red-shirt freshman, Parcells (Servite High) led the team in tackles with 71 in 13 games played last season. He also had 7.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss (56 yards), 1 fumble recoveries, and 1 forced fumble. Parcells won numerous awards this season, including the All-Conference Defensive MVP, All-Region, All-State, and All-American honors.
Sophomore Jamal Scott (Magnolia High) was tied for third on the team in tackles with 49. He was responsible for 3.5 sacks, 9.5 tackles for loss (35 yards), 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception, and 2 pass breakups. Scott was a first team SCFA All-Southern Conference selection for his excellent play this season.
"Both Justin and Jamal are hardworking players with a nose for the ball. They will be greatly missed by the Hornet players and coaching staff as they were heavy contributors during our state championship run this past season. I have no doubt that they'll have a positive impact on the Spartan program next season", Hornet Head Coach Tim Byrnes.
Stay tuned as more Hornets will be signing in the coming weeks.
