LAST SECOND WIN

LAST SECOND WIN: Fullerton College hosted Irvine Valley College Wednesday night and knocked out the Lasers 73-72 on a final second put-back by Hornet guard Tyler Payne.

With four seconds left in the game, FC guard Julian Caldwell drove hard to the basket for a fingertip lay-in that fell short. Tyler Payne picked up the rebound and put it back in with .7 on the clock.  IVC fell short on time and the Hornets pulled off a much-needed win.

The game was close from beginning to end as Irvine Valley never led by more than 6 points and FC never led by more than 5. The Lasers held the lead for a majority of the game that featured 4 lead changes.

Fullerton dominated underneath as they out-scored the Lasers 34-20 in the paint and out-rebounded their opponent 45-23.  IVC shot the ball better from the floor hitting 50% to FC's 40%.

The win not only breaks a 3-game losing streak, but it avenges an earlier Orange Empire Conference loss (86-71) to Irvine Valley back on January 23rd.

Tyler Payne had a team-high 16 points and 5 rebounds for the Hornets.  Forward Chris Lewis dropped in 15 points with 5 rebounds, and guard Amin Sahwani was strong off of the bench scoring 13 points with 5 rebounds.  Caldwell put up 11 points and had two picture-perfect dunks.  He also brought down 6 rebounds.  Khalfani Williams also contributed 8 points and 11 rebounds.
