MEN'S BASKETBALL: HORNETS GOING TO THE STATE DANCE!

The #1 Fullerton College men's basketball team hosted #8 Chaffey College in the SoCal Regional Final Saturday night, and gave the Panthers a 86-70 season-ending loss. The Hornet win now advances the Hornets to the CCCAA State Tournament for the first time since 2008.

The Hornets jumped on the Panthers early taking an 17-3 lead on a dunk by Kendall Lauderdale at 12:04. FC took their largest lead of the game at 18 with just over a minute left on a pair of Kenny Barnes free throws. The first half was all Fullerton as they ended the half with a 44-32 lead.

Coming out of the locker room after halftime, Chaffey did their best to keep the game tight hitting five of nine from behind the three-point arc, but the Hornets were to strong hitting 50% of their shots from the floor to Chaffey's 36.8%. Fullerton had too much firepower in the second half maintaining, at minimum, a ten-point buffer to wrap up the victory.

For the game, Fullerton out-rebounded the Panthers 48-34 and out-shot them 49.3% to 37.7%.

Kenny Barnes was unstoppable scoring a game-high 26 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Kendall Lauderdale and Ian Fox each added 16 points. Lauderdale also had a double-double with 12 rebounds. Nick Anderson contributed 9 points to the win.
