FULLERTON DOWNS IRVINE VALLEY

The No. 4 FC men's basketball team took a trip to Irvine Valley College on Friday and pulled off an 87-55 win.

It was a key Orange Empire Conference win for the Hornets, who remain undefeated in conference-play at 6-0. Fullerton has now won 24 consecutive OEC games that goes back to the 2021-22 season. FC ups its overall record to 15-3, while Irvine Valley falls to 11-6 overall and 2-3 in the OEC.

In the first half, the Hornets came out firing with a 14-6 lead that was set off by a layup by Christian Watson. Irvine Valley was not ready to toss in the towel as the team came storming back with a 28-25 lead at 7:59. The Hornets and Lasers tussled back and forth through the rest of the half. With a minute left until halftime, IVC tied the game up 38-38 thanks to a trey by David Ogunlade. Fullerton got out of the half with a narrow 40-38 lead.

With the score tied at 42 apiece in the first two minutes, the Hornets caught fire with an impressive 27-2 run that was finished off with an Amound Anderson II three. Up 69-44 with 9 minutes left in the game, Fullerton pressed ahead with its largest lead of 32 with a minute left securing the conference road-win.

Christian Watson led the way with 16 points and 11 points for a double-double. He also added 5 assists and 3 blocks. Godfrey Little was hot beyond the arc going 5 for 6 with 15 total points. RJ Banks scored 13 points, while Addy G'Bye dropped in 12. Amound Anderson II put up 9 points with 6 boards, and Alex Archer scored 7 with 3 rebounds. 

Up Next: The No. 4 in state Hornets (15-3 overall, 6-0 OEC) will play at home on Wednesday, January 17th when Saddleback College comes to town. Game time is at 6:00 pm.
