Bio

Coach Johnson enters his second season with the Fullerton College Men's Basketball program. In his first and only season with Mt. SAC men’s basketball, Coach Johnson had the task of assembling a team from scratch when he added 15 newcomers to the group. The Mounties went 19-8 last season and went 6-2 in conference for a second place finish. Coach Johnson assisted in all-day-to-day basketball-related duties and served as recruiting coordinator. Johnson put together defensive strategies that helped the Mounties position themselves as one of the best defensive teams in the CCCAA during the 2021-2022 season. Mt. SAC ranked in opponent three point percentage (2nd in CCCAA) and opponent field goal percentage (12th in CCCAA). Johnson helped develop four All-SCC players and one All-State Honorable mention selection.  Johnson previously coached at El Camino college where he helped produced two all-conference guards (2018) and served as an assistant coach, academic coordinator and headed up player development. Coach Johnson is well known in the travel ball circuit formerly with Prodigy Athletic Institute. Currently he is head coach of Adidas 3SSB Jalen Green Elite 16U. Prior to El Camino College, Johnson coached at Bishop Alemany High School, and Concordia University-Irvine, where he got his start as an assistant coach. Johnson was an outstanding guard at Azusa Pacific University (Azusa, CA) where he lead his team to two conference tournament championships and a NAIA National Championship runner-up finish in 2010.  He earned All-Golden State Conference (2010 & 2011) and NAIA All-American (2011) honors during his tenure (2008-2012) with the Cougars.  Johnson earned his Bachelor's Degree in Media Studies from Azusa Pacific University.  He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Athletic Administration (2016) and a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Science (2019), both from Concordia University.
