MEN'S SOCCER: ORANGE EMPIRE CONFERENCE CHAMPS!!!

After 26 years, the Hornets are the 2018 Orange Empire Conference champs after blanking Golden West at home 2-0.

In the program's history, Fullerton has only won a conference title twice, in 1981 and 1992 under Jim Pasquale.

It all came down to today's game against the Rustlers as FC needed the win to take the title outright. The Rustlers had given Fullerton their only conference-loss (1-0) back on October 9th. Since that loss, FC went on a 7-game unbeaten streak breaking the title dry spell.

The Hornets ended the regular season breaking the school record for most wins in a season at 16. The record had been previously held by the 1992 squad with 11 wins. Fullerton also broke the record for most shutouts in a season with 11.

For the game, FC took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on a header by Jacob Aldana that was set up Steve Perez, who crossed the ball in front of the goal. Aldana jumped up and finished the ball off into the back of the net.

Fullerton sealed the game and the title scoring the second goal in the 80th minute when AJ Yazid powered a shot past the Rustler's goalie. The assist came from Cesar Ortega.

FC goalie Kevan Rehmani locked down his 9th shutout win with 8 saves on the day.

Up Next: Round One of the Southern California Regionals - The No. 3 seeded Hornets (16-2-2 overall, 11-1-2 OEC) will face off against OEC rival No. 14 Irvine Valley College on Saturday, November 17th at 2:00 pm. Come out and support your Hornets!
