MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: FIRST OEC MEET OF THE SEASON
The Hornets went to Santa Ana College for a meet against Santa Ana and Orange Coast College and had several good performances as they handily beat Santa Ana.
Fullerton big men Francisco Padilla and Joshua Spillane had a busy day as Padilla won three events and Spillane took 3rd in three events, scoring big points for the Hornets. Padilla won the shot put, discus, and hammer throw, while Spillane took 3rd in the shot put, discus and javelin. Noel Dominguez, in his first competition in the javelin, took 2nd place.
2016 double state qualifier Justin Walker is back and won the long jump and 110m high hurdles.
Three new freshmen to the Hornet squad acquitted themselves well in the 400m, taking 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Tommy Bui (Valencia) ran 51.86 seconds, Marquis Rogers ran 51.94 seconds, and Raymond Gomez-Garcia (Fullerton) ran 52.78 seconds.
Freshman Jackson Mirth (Valencia) took 2nd in the 100m in a time of 11.6 seconds.
