MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: CAL STATE LA INVITE

The Hornets got to compete against several universities and some national level competition at Cal State Los Angeles last Friday.

Justin Walker is slowly but surely rounding into shape with good performances in the Long Jump and 110mHH. Walker jumped 23 feet to take 4th out of 30 competitors in the long jump and ran 14.57 in the hurdles to take 3rd out of 30 competitors. Walker is ranked in the top 5 for both events in community colleges.

Francisco Padilla performed well in the Discus and Hammer Throw. In the discus, Padilla won his flight with a throw of 135 feet, placing him 7th overall. In the hammer, Padilla had a big PR with a toss of 142.2 feet, good for 2nd in his flight and 8th overall.

Xavier Chavez had a personal record in the 1500m, running 4:21.97, good for 5th in a field of 30. Chavez came back and ran the 5000m in 16:29, just a couple of seconds off his best effort.

Up Next: The Hornets will head to Eagle Rock this Friday for the Occidental Invitational.
