MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: SEIZING A DOUBLE WIN

The Hornets seized the day at Golden West College defeated both Golden West and Santa Ana Colleges in a double-duel contest.

Fullerton handled Santa Ana with minimal effort, outscoring the Dons 85-23. The battle with Golden West was much closer, with the Hornets edging the Rustlers 79-67.

The Hornet big men came to compete, sweeping through the throwing events. The Hornets went 1-2 in the shot put, hammer throw, and discus, and went 1-2-3 in the javelin.

Francisco Padilla and Josh Spillane went 1-2 respectively in the shot, hammer, and discus. Spillane won the javelin with teammates Ryan Lenning and Noel Dominguez taking second and third. Padilla went 14.29m (46ft, 10in) in the shot, 41.35m (135ft, 8in) in the discus, and 40.36m (132ft, 5in) in the hammer. Spillane was 10.12m (33ft, 2in) in the shot, 40.08m (131ft, 6in) in the discus, 37.96m (124ft, 6in) in the hammer, and 38.36m (125ft, 10in) in a winning javelin effort.

Other winning efforts from the Hornets came from Marquis Rogers, who won the 100 and 200m and ran a leg on the winning 4x400m relay. Teammate Taj Wilson was 2nd in the 100m, and Jackson Mirth was 2nd in the 200m and also ran on the 4x400m relay.

Raymond Gomez-Garcia and Tommy Bui were 2nd and 3rd on the 400m, and both ran on the 4x400m relay.

Up Next: The Hornets head to San Diego next Saturday, April 1st to compete at the Arnie Robinson Invitational at San Diego Mesa College.
