MEN'S CROSS COUNTY: MAKING SOCAL REGIONALS

The FC men's team ran in the Orange Empire Conference Championships on Friday at the city of Irvine's Mason Regional Park.

Pablo Perez, sophomore, accepted the challenge of the flat and fast course and finished in 15th place out of 81 runners and ran 21:41 for the four mile course. He was 2 seconds shy of making the All-OEC team.

A team leader, Pablo told the team, "to get out and run strong for the first half of the race".

Brian Grande made it his goal to pull Jonathan Sheatz along as the two runners finished within 28 seconds of each other. Ethan Sheatz is the brother of Jonathan and made sure to race behind him and pull teammate Xavier Chavez to the finish line. Jonathan's encouragement words to the team, "we run for each other".

The final result was the team placed sixth overall with 150 points. The men qualified with an at-large berth to the Southern California Regional Championships November 6th at Mission Bay in San Diego. Race time is at noon.
