SOFTBALL: DEFENDING HOME WITH A NO-NO

In an Orange Empire Conference game, the FC softball team defended their home field by blanking Golden West 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon. Pitcher Natasha Trujillo threw her first no-hitter of the season.

The win gives the Hornets an overall record of 18-15 and gets them back at .500 in the OEC standings with a record of 8-8.

FC has now beaten five straight opponents with a collective score of 27-10.

After a disappointing first inning when the Hornets had the bases loaded and failed to score, they stepped up to score two runs later in the 3rd inning. Eryka Springer hit a deep fly ball to right field that gave Sabrina Anguiano the chance to tag up and score from third base. Nia Rodman then ripped a singled to center that scored Kaylee Williamson.

Fullerton went on to grab runs in the 5th and 6th innings to secure the win. Baylee Giordano hit a SAC fly to center and Alexis Contreras tagged up and scored from third. Williamson scored again on a wild pitch.

Natasha Trujillo (15-11) was excellent in the circle for the Hornets throwing a no-hitter. She threw 6 innings with no runs, no walks, and 6 strikeouts. Reliever Tiffany Chavez (0-0) came in to finish the game going 1 inning with no hits against.

Up Next: Fullerton will hit the road this Friday, April 13th to play against Santa Ana College. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
