WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: NCAA PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Playing for Bethesda University this season, former Hornet Aunjanay Chambers was named as the 2015-16 NCCAA West Region Women's Basketball "Player of the Year".

The 6-1 junior guard from Placentia, California played for Fullerton College under Debi Woelke in 2010-12. Chambers helped lead the Hornets to back-to-back Orange Empire Conference titles and was voted as the "Female Athlete of the Year" by the FC Athletic Department in 2012.

After taking some time away from the game of basketball, Chambers joined the Bethesda basketball team this season and began her junior season campaign as if she never left. Aunjanay led the Flames in scoring with 15.8 points per game while averaging 8.3 rebounds.

Headed by Coach Jason Pruitt, the Lady Flames finished the 2015-2016 regular season in the top ten and broke nearly every record in the program's young history. Last season, Bethesda was the NCCAA National Tournament runner-up, and now this season they have their sights on winning it all. The team travels to Indiana next week for the National Championship Tournament.
