WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: OH MY GOURD!

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: OH MY GOURD!

Sophomore Marianne Gourd clinches double win at Vaquero Classic Invitational at Glendale College over the weekend!

It was a great weekend for Gourd as she won the hammer throw and shot put locking down a personal record in the shot put. Now is the time in the season when the Hornets work on sharpening up their events to get ready for the conference championships at the end of the month.  Marianne has been working on the finer details with her throws and it finally clicked with the shot put throwing 37' 5.35" and a 132' throw with the hammer.

"I wanted that throw on my first attempt", said Gourd.

The rest of her series was just inches off of her best and one of her better competition throws.  In these events, Marianne has eighth place locked in ranking her on the Southern California list.

Teammate Kim Mataia finished in fifth place with a ten foot PR in the hammer of 107' 4".  Yessenia Gutierrez finally released her PR of the season with a throw of 101' 6".   Her javelin traveled 78' 9" for another PR for her.

Sophomore Jordyn Reese ran her best race in the 100M with a 13.05 time and finished in fifth place. Her sister, Madison Reese, followed right behind her and ran 13.16 in the same race.  Shyleen Ramos jumped a PR in the long jump and continues to sharpen up her 200M race running a click off of her best time.
