NEW SEASON & NEW START

NEW SEASON & NEW START

After months of preparation for the 2022 season, the Hornets traveled to Bakersfield College to show how hard they have been working off season attending the Battle of the Regions meet.

The day started of running the 400 meter relay from Annaliese Powell, Megan Brodowski, Carrin Hilliard, and Jenna Pagan. The baton exchanges were clean and boasted a 52.20 time for the season opener. Megan Brodowski ran a solid 200m in 27.59 with teammate Carrin Hilliard trailing behind her in 28.95. Isis Cervantes used the 200m as a training race for her first race of the year and posted a 33.16.

Annaliese Powell pushed out of her blocks and showed her strength in the 400m dash running 1:05.19 while Alex Turner was a step behind her for a close race in 1:05.77. These two ladies joined Megan Brodowski and Carrin Hilliard to make up the 4X400m relay and ran a good race for second place with a time of 4:17.41. Keep an eyey on their progress throughout the season as there is great chemistry amongst them.

On the field side, Victoria Saldana and Malila Miranda competed in their first hammer event. The off season training showed they are strong and threw 86' 10" and 87' 1" respectively. They competed in the shot put with Victoria Saldana having an effort of 28' 9.75" and Malila Miranda tossing a 26' 9.25" throw. Malila Miranda also competed in her first ever javelin competition finishing with a 65' 5" mark. Victoria Saldana finished out the day with a 95' 11" discus effort.

Everyone was excited for the season to open, and all are on track for where we want to be with our progress at this time of the season.
