BASEBALL: HORNET PITCHERS SIGN WITH BUTLER & WVU

BASEBALL: HORNET PITCHERS SIGN WITH BUTLER & WVU

Hornet hurlers Nick Morton and Josh Bornstein will move on to play for D1 programs next year with Morton committing to Butler University and Bornstein to West Virginia University.

A sophomore LHP, Morton led the Hornets in wins (7-2), complete games (4), and innings pitched (81), and earned runs average (2.89). He also accumulated 56 strikeouts during the 2014 season.

Bornstein, a freshman RHP, went 5-4 on the season while throwing 55 innings. He struck out a total of 46 batters while sporting a 3.44 ERA.

"Nick Morton transferred to Fullerton from Pacific University (Oregon) in the Fall.  His progress has been truly remarkable.  Nick's resolve to finish what he started resulted in his becoming the "Ace" of the pitching staff this season.  Not only was he a success on the diamond, but also succeeded in the classroom and his transition to the Division I level at Butler University should be successful. Josh Bornstein came to Fullerton in January from UC Irvine, and gave high hopes to the Hornet pitching staff.  Unfortunately, Josh came down with a groin injury and it affected him the rest of the year.  His future is bright at West Virginia and Josh will be a tremendous addition to the Mountaineers", said Head Coach Baseball Nick Fuscardo.

Stay tuned as more Hornets will sign with four-year colleges in the next few weeks.
