BASEBALL: CARDENAS, LAZCANO, CASTANEDA SIGN

Hornet pitchers Cardenas, Lazcano and Castaneda signed with four-year colleges last week.

Fullerton pitcher Gordon Cardenas accepted a scholarship to attend Auburn University in the fall. Cardnas transferred to Fullerton College last January from the University of Hawaii where he won a starting job for the Hornets and had success in forming a solid pitching staff.

Gordon started in 13 games for the Hornets and wrapped up the season with a 3.94 ERA. He had 35 strikeouts with 21 walks in 75.1 innings.

Kyle Lazcano and Nico Castaneda have accepted scholarships to Colorado University at Pueblo for the Fall.

Lazcano started in 12 games (70.1 innings) for FC in 2015 with a 3.45 ERA, 45 strikeouts and 23 walks on the season.

Castaneda threw in 44.1 innings with a 2.44 ERA, with 23 strikeouts and 6 walks.

"We are excited for Gordon and hope he has a successful career for the Tigers. This gives the Hornets pitching staff a grand slam with all four of our starting pitchers matriculating to the university level to continue their great careers. We will miss them all and know that they will all find success on the next level, Hornet Head Coach Nick Fuscardo
