BASEBALL: ALL-STATE BALLERS
Hornets, Shane Carrier, Justin Row, David Miranda and Joey Parente were selected to the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association All-State team.
Sophomore outfielder, Shane Carrier was selected to the 1st Team All-State, and All-American team and named to the Academic All American team in Fresno. Shane also had the great honor of being named Fullerton College Athlete of the Year for 2016 as well as earning the Fullerton College Academic Athlete award. He was also selected as a 1st Team All-Orange Empire Conference, and was named the CCCBCA player of the week during the 2016 season. Carrier has accepted a scholarship to Cal State Fullerton.
Justin Row, a sophomore shortstop, was a 1st Team All-State and All-American selection as well as being named to the California State Academic All American team. Justin was recently awarded the Fullerton College Baseball 2016 Mike Sgobba Memorial Scholarship, which epitomizes student success, strong work ethic, being a great teammate and great success on the athletic field. Justin also earned Fullerton College Academic Athlete Award. Justin has accepted a scholarship to the University of South Carolina.
David Miranda, outfielder and designated hitter, was named to the 2016 1st Team All-State and All-American Utility at the CCCBCA meetings in Fresno. David performed exceptionally well during the season coming up with clutch hits that led to big runs scored. David was awarded the Outstanding Performance Trophy, which is awarded to a player who has been consistent in his daily performance. David will make his decision soon on which college he will play for next season.
Freshman outfielder Joey Parente was named All-State Honorable Mention. Joey had a great season for the Hornets, hitting .379, swiping 15 bags, and did not commit an error this past season. Parente will be make his choice soon on which college he will be playing for in 2017.
