BASEBALL: SWEET RAYS & CRUZ BREWS

Former Hornet pitchers Austin Sweet (2013-2014) and Axel Cruz (2014-2015) are making their dreams a reality as they are now playing professional baseball for the Rays and Brewers.

Out of Missouri Baptist University, Sweet signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Rays. The 6-5 245 pound righty is currently playing for the Rays' minor league rookie club. In 4 games thus far, Sweet has a 2.84 ER with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Cruz, a 6-1 right hander originally from Dorado, Puerto Rico, signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers organization after playing for Bethel University this past spring.

"I am very proud of these two. They were productive ball players and excellent teammates while they were here at Fullerton College. It brings me great joy to see Sweety and Axel continue their dreams at the next level", Hornet Head Coach Nick Fuscardo.
