BASEBALL: ERRORS HURT HORNETS

In a home OEC game on Tuesday, the Hornets fell short 8-4 against the number two team in the land Orange Coast College.

Fullerton has now lost six straight games in a row setting them back to 12-7 overall and 2-11 in the Orange Empire Conference. Meanwhile, the first-place Pirates continue to roll with an overall record of 23-5 and an OEC record of 10-4.

Travis Moniot started with a bang in the first inning hitting a bomb over the Hornet's right field scoreboard.

OCC went up 2-0 in the third on a hard-hit single to left center by Robert Teel scoring Moniot.

The FC offense came to life in the third inning when Thomas Degadillo hit a nice bloop-shot over the short stop's head scoring Tate Brock. Earlier, Brock hit a hard-shot down the left line for a double.

Orange Coast capitalized on a couple of Hornet errors scoring two runs in the fourth inning.

Down 4-1, Fullerton got a run back in the fifth when Thomas Delgadillo grounded out giving Grant Woodward the opportunity to score from third.

In the bottom of sixth, FC's Grant Woodward hit high-flying blooper to left finding its way in the hole scoring Jacob Manzur from third.

More costly errors hurt the Hornets in the seventh as the Pirates added four more runs to go up 8-3.

Fullerton followed up with a run in the seventh scoring on a grounder hit by Jacob Manzur that brought Tate Brock home.

FC starter Garrrett Molnar (2-5) threw another solid game giving up 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Molnar had 3 K's and 3 walks. Reliever Ali Anthony went 2.1 innings with 3 hits against and no earned runs. RP  Jordan Wisner threw an inning allowing a hit with 1 strikeout and a walk. RP Austin Mills matched Wisner tossing an inning while allowing a hit.

Up Next: The Hornets (12-17, 2-11) will travel to Orange Coast College this Thursday, April 6th for game two of the three-game conference series.
