BASEBALL: ACCORDINO LANDS AT CHICO STATE

Sophomore slugger Tony Accordino signed with Chico State late last week.

One of the best hitters for the Hornets the last two seasons, Accordino led FC in a shortened season in 2020 with a batting average of .386. In 20 games (70 at bats) he accumulated 17 runs, 12 RBI, 11 walks, 2 stolen bases, and 1 home run. In 2019, Tony played in 37 games hitting .273 with 36 hits, 22 runs, 21 RBI, 19 walks, 1 stolen base, and 4 homers.

Holding down the first base position for 20 games, Accordino had 188 putouts, 7 assists, 2 errors with a fielding percentage of .990 this past season. In 2019, his fielding percentage was .991 with 291 putouts, 24 assists, and 3 errors.

Tony is the sixth player to move on to the four-year level.
