THREE-GAME-SWEEP OVER IRVINE VALLEY

The Baseball Hornets completed the three-game series sweep against Irvine Valley College with a 6-0 victory at home Friday over the Lasers.

It was a St. Patrick's Day sweep that lifted the FC squad to an overall record to 15-10, while evening out its Orange Empire Conference record at 3-3. For the series, Fullerton had an awakening on offense outscoring IVC 19-1.

It was a clean victory where the Hornets scored 3 runs in the first inning and 3 runs in the seventh, while holding the Lasers scoreless. Britton Beeson got things rolling knocking a double to left field scoring Niko Santamaria. Kaipo Haole then got in on the action doubling in Elie Kligman and Beeson. In the third, Kligman added some insurance runs hitting a bases-clearing double to center scoring Beeson, Isaiah Marquez, and Jimmy Blumberg.

FC starter Freddy Castaneda (5-2) earned the win throwing 6 strong innings with 6 hits against, no earned runs, no walks, and had 3 strikeouts. Ryan Chavez earned his second save on the season going three solid innings with 1 hit against, no earned runs, no walks, with a strikeout.

Up Next: The Hornets (15-10 overall, 3-3 OEC) will host Cypress College on Monday, March 20th at 1:00 pm (weather permitting).
