A NEW FULL-TIME ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

A NEW FULL-TIME ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Scott Giles will now serve as the full time Athletic Director for Fullerton College Athletics.

For the past seven years, Giles has served as the assistant Athletic Director performing the duties in the fall only. Tim Byrnes served as the spring AD.

In the past, the AD position was combined with that of the Dean of P.E. among other duties.  A first in FC Athletics, the new role for Scott will be to work as Athletic Director as a full time management position.
"We are very happy to have Scott working as our new AD. His hard work and commitment to this institution truly shows in all that he has done as a faculty member and will continue as a manager", Dr. David Grossman, FC Dean of Physical Education.

Scott Giles began teaching and coaching at Fullerton College in 2002 as the head coach of the women's tennis team where he helped produce multiple state players as well as two state championships (2013-2014).  In 2009, he guided his team to the state playoffs and was selected by the Fullerton College Athletic Department as the "Coach of the Year".  Scott became the head coach of the Fullerton men's soccer program from 2003 to 2007 where he led his team to a state final four appearance.  He was also the Orange Empire Conference soccer rep for five years.

As an instructor at Fullerton College, Scott taught a wide variety of Physical Education classes and has served on various campus committees. He served on faculty senate and curriculum.   Scott became the Fall Assistant Athletic Director at Fullerton in 2008, where he is currently relied upon for his leadership skills.
Prior to his days at Fullerton, Scott was a standout scholar athlete at Snow Junior College (Ephraim, UT).  In 1985 he played football on an undefeated national championship team and was an All-Conference selection.  Scott also played for Snow in 1989 and was again selected to the All-Conference team.
Scott played two years (1990 and 1991) at Brigham Young University where he was an All-Conference football player helping his team to two WAC conference championships.  He was also an All-WAC Scholar Athlete.  After his playing days at BYU, Scott spent time in the NFL playing in four preseason games for the Houston Oilers in 1992.

A recipient of the NCAA post graduate scholarship, Scott moved on to become a graduate assistant for the BYU football program from 1993 to 1994 working under head coach LaVell Edwards and offensive coordinator Norm Chow.

From 1995 to 1997 Scott took a job at Eastern Arizona College as the defensive coordinator of the football team.  In 1998, he took over the program as the head coach where he helped place multiple players into four-year colleges and had many All-Americans.  While at Eastern Arizona, Scott also helped create curriculum and was the Assistant Director of the Wellness program.
