On the road, #15 Fullerton held off and upset a feisty #7 Cerritos College team on Saturday night 33-29.
The Hornets were losing the game until the third quarter when QB Trey Tinsley hit WR Ryan Markush for a 31-yard touchdown to tie the game up at 23 a piece with 4:25 left in the quarter.
The Falcons hit pay dirt to go up six on a TD pass from Jimmy Walker to WR Steven White as the third quarter ended (extra point failed).
FC took over the game in the fourth quarter when RB Phillip Butler took it to the house on a 10 yard run. Tavis Guerra's extra point was good giving the Hornets their first lead of the game with 10:04 left in the game.
Guerra struck again with a 33-yard field goal to put FC up 33-29 with 8:01 left in regulation.
Cerritos did not go away quietly marching down the field to the Fullerton 21 yardline with 20 seconds left in the ball game.
The FC defense preserved the victory as Marcus Kirkpatrick plucked Walker's pass out for the air returning it to the Fullerton 27 yardline. With 10 seconds left in the game Tinsley took a knee and the victory from the Falcons.
Up Next: The Hornets (2-1) will host Orange Coast College at Nathan Shapell Stadium next Saturday, September 26th. Kickoff will be at 6:00 pm.
