MEN'S BASKETBALL: DOUBLE-DIGITS OVER COMPTON

After a rough start, the FC men's basketball team played well enough to beat El Camino College Compton Center 91-80 on the road Thursday night in a non-conference duel.

It was not a picture-perfect start as the Hornets stumbled out of the gate giving Compton a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game.

The Tartars took their largest lead of the game at 15:56 on a layup by Michael Chavers to go up on FC by 11 points at 19-8.

With their work cut out for them, Fullerton began chopping away at the deficit going on a 13-0 run. Blake McBride's three-pointer gave the Hornets their first lead of the game with 7:19 left in the half.

A few lead changes later, the half ended with FC down 42-38.

In the second half, Compton widened their lead on a three-pointer by Marquise Harris giving the Tartars 47-41 lead.

The Hornets did not go away quietly snatching back the lead (50-48) on another three-pointer by McBride at the 16:18 mark. Fullerton refused to relinquish the lead after that.

With just under two minutes left in the game, FC grabbed their largest lead of the game at 87-76 on a pair of free throws by Julian Richardson.

Kenny Barnes had one of his best efforts of the season scoring 25 points and bringing down 15 rebounds for a double-double (both game-highs). Richardson dropped in 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Isaiah Clark scored 16 points with 6 boards. Ian Fox helped out with 11 points and 5 assists.

Up Next: The Hornets (8-3) will play in the Wells Fargo Riverside City College Tournament December 8-12. FC will open against Cerritos College on Tuesday, Dec. 8th @ 3:00 pm.
