MEN'S BASKETBALL: FULLERTON NO. 1 IN STATE

The CCCMBCA rankings came out this week naming Fullerton College as the top team in the state taking 9 of the 19 votes.

No. 2 San Francisco (6 votes) had been in the the No. 1 spot that past few week, until they lost last week to No. 19 Cabrillo 77-73. Mt. San Jacinto (No. 3) and Gavilan (No. 7) received the other No. 1 votes.

The Hornets (12-1 overall) have lights out on the court winning 10 straight games since their lone loss to Citrus back on November 9th. Since then, they have avenged the loss to the Owls winning the Citrus Invitational, won the Foothill Tournament, and beat ranked opponents Mt. San Jacinto (No. 3) and Cerritos (No. 4).

"We are happy to be ranked number 1 in the state for the first time since we have been here, but we also understand it is a long season and we need to continue to get better. We are focused on being number 1 in March, but are happy to be recognized as number in December as well", Hornet Head Coach Perry Webster.

FC has three non-conference games left on the schedule (South Mountain of Arizona, Moorpark, and Ventura) before they jump into conference-play in the Orange Empire Conference on January 9th at home against Riverside City.

"The Orange Empire Conference is going to provide a new challenge every night, with the quality coaches and players within the conference. We need to stay prepared every night as we will have a target on our backs, which we accept and want as a program. Our goal is to finish our non-conference portion strong and to stay healthy into the new year", said Webster.

Up Next: Fullerton (12-1) will host South Mountain of Arizona (4-6) this Saturday, December 22nd at 2:00 pm. It has been 13 years since the Hornets last hosted an out of state team. It was  Southeastern, Iowa on December 29, 2005. FC won 81-62. Come on out and support your Hornets!
