MEN'S BASKETBALL: HORNET ALL-OEC HONORS
The All-Orange Empire Conference awards were officially announced on Tuesday with five Hornets receiving honors.
Sophomore Harrison Bonner earned "Defensive Player of Year". Bonner was a major force behind one of the state's most formidable defenses this season. The Hornets averaged 6.7 steals, 4.4 blocks per game, while holding teams to a 59-point scoring average. Bonner is also averaging 7.8 points a game along with 3.7 rebounds.
Making 1st Team All-OEC were sophomore guards Omajae Smith and DJ Houston.
A hard-working player on both ends of the floor, Smith is averaging 12 ppg., 4.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Smith was a 2nd team All-OEC selection last season.
An electrifying athlete, Houston played in 20 games for Fullerton with a scoring average of 11.5. He leads the team in rebounds (6.2 rpg.) steals (2.3 spg.), and assists (3.6 apg.).
Earning 2nd Team All-OEC were freshmen Jacob Eyman and Ronnie Stapp.
The big man in the middle, Eyman is averaging 10.8 points a game, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks.
Stapp, a lean athlete who can drive to the hoop or hit the deep three, is scoring 9.6 points a game, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.
Up Next: The No. 6 seeded Hornets (22-5 overall) will host Round Two of the Southern California Regional Playoffs this Saturday, February 29th when they welcome No. 10 San Diego City College. Come on out and support your Hornets for this one. Game time is at 7:00 pm.
