FC SNATCHES 1ST PLACE

In a battle for the top spot in the Orange Empire Conference, Fullerton hosted Santa Ana College on Tuesday blanking the Dons 3-0.

FC now sits in first place in the OEC with a record of 4-1-1, while Santa Ana bumps from first down to third (tied with Irvine Valley). Cypress College beat Fullerton in the first round is right behind in second at 4-2.

Fullerton came out with a lot of energy outworking the Dons until they broke down defensively in the 20th minute when Luis Chavez-Esparza took the feed from Diego Anya before punching it into the back of the net.

FC struck again in the 46th minute taking a 2-0 lead on Diego Anaya's goal with the assist coming from Cooper Clark.

The Hornets continued to pressure Santa Ana in this physical game, until Diego Anaya found himself wide open. After a nice pass from Julio Toaza, Anya was one on one with the Don's goalkeeper looping the ball over his head for the goal.]

FC goalie Jose Estrada earned his 4th shutout with 3 saves for the win.

Up Next: Fullerton (8-4-3 overall, 4-1-1 OEC) will hit the road this Friday, October 21st against Cypress College. Match time is at 3:00 pm.
