MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: CERRITOS INVITE

The Hornets continued to hone their technique and conditioning as the drove down the 91 fwy and competed at the Cerritos College Invitational this past weekend.

The days highlights included personal records by Braxton Word in the Discus (41.67/136'8") and Hammer Throws (33.75 /110'8"). Zedric McGee continues to improve in the jumping department with leaps of 11.20/36'9" in the triple jump and 1.77/5'9 ¾.

On the track Paul Laborde improved on his seasonal best in the 100 and 200 meter run, (12.47 and 24.67), look for Paul to improve a lot on both of those times this year.

The distance runners had a rare opportunity to run the 3000 meter steeplechase, which saw Freshman Johnny Nava from Fullerton High School run to a very good first outing of 10:15 which placed him 6th out of the 18 runners.

Up Next: The Hornet will participate in the Occidental Invitational, which is a distance runners dream, where they are highlighted in this evening meet.  It will be their first chance to run the 5000 meters (12 ½ laps) and 10, 000 meters (25 laps) that night, along with another chance to compete in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
