MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: NEW HEAD COACH

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: NEW HEAD COACH

Sean Sheil takes over as the new head coach of the Fullerton College men's track and field team.

Head Coach Gina Bevec pulled double-duty the past few seasons coaching both the men's and women's teams with solid success. Now, with Coach Sheil on board, the Hornets are looking forward to the 2016 season.

Sheil is hardly a stranger to Fullerton College as he helped coach the Hornets during the 2008 season after longtime Coach Jim Kiefer retired.

Sheil's career has spanned eighteen years as an instructor and coach of cross country and track and field at El Camino College.

A former athlete, Sean competed for El Camino in cross country and track from 1986-88 and his first collegiate race was against Fullerton College at Craig Park.

Sean earned his B.A. at Cal State Stanislaus and his M.S. in Physical Education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. As a graduate student, he began coaching at Cuesta College in 1992. Upon graduation, he became the Exercise Test Technician for the Beach Cities Health District in Redondo Beach. After four years, he began teaching at El Camino and LA Trade Technical College in 1997. After one year at Trade Tech, he worked exclusively for El Camino.

Sean was born in Minneapolis, MN, but most of his family hails from Watertown, SD. He currently resides in Torrance.

"I'm very happy and excited about the opportunity to work for Fullerton College. I also look forward to working with the great staff in the Physical Education and Athletics division", Coach Sean Sheil.
