CROSS COUNTRY: GOING TO STATE!

Hornet runners Alethea StreeterBrandon Velasco, and Manuel Ruiz will compete individually in the State Championships this Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Loaded with all of their necessities, including some school spirit, the Fullerton van left the campus this morning.

"We're excited to compete, and I believe Tia, Brandon, and Manny will represent Fullerton College well", Head Coach Gina Bevec.

Brandon qualified by running 21:22 at the Southern California Championship. Manuel qualified with a finish of 21:47 at the SoCals. Tia finished the SoCals running 20:12.

The championship race distance for the women is 3.1 miles. The men's race will be 4 miles.

Saturday's forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, a high of 59 and a slight chance of rain. Temperatures at race time are expected in the mid 50s. Woodward Park fall colors are splendid and early November rain helped firm up the course.

About 450 runners from approximately 55 community colleges are expected to compete with the top 14 runners in both races receiving All-America status.

The women's race begins at 10:00 am with the men's race to follow at 11:00 am.
