SEASON OPENER: Fullerton opened the season with a close one falling at home to Palomar College
5-4. Palomar went up early scoring 4 runs in the second inning while FC left 2 stranded.
The Hornets got on the board in the third inning when Elizabeth Garcia blasted a solo homerun over the left field wall.
Fullerton trailed 4-1 heading into the top of the fifth until Palomar's Jaclyn Meester singled through the left side allowing Paige Falcon to score. FC answered back in the bottom of the fifth scoring 3 runs to make it a 1 run game.
FC held the Comets scoreless the next two innings, but could not take advantage as they left two stranded in the seventh.
Hornet pitcher Shaliee Boehmer went 7 innings allowing 10 hits, 4 earned runs, and 5 walks.
Along with her homer, Garcia went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and a run. SS Felisha Gomez went 3-4 with a RBI and a run scored. 2B Andrea Enriques, C Alyssa Nava, 1B Nichole Chapman, RF Alexandria Avila, and Boehmer each had a hit.
Up Next: FC (0-1 overall) travels to Antelope Valley College for a double header this Friday, February 1st. The game times are 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm.
