SOFTBALL: NCFA ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICANS

Hornet players Desiree Lopez and Brigid Ruiz were chosen to the 2015 NFCA Academic Junior College All-America Scholar Team.

Lopez and Ruiz were two of six softball players from the Orange Empire Conference with two coming from Riverside, one from Golden West and one from Santa Ana.

The Hornet softball team will have both Lopez and Ruiz on the team for another run at a conference and state title.

"I couldn't be more proud to have two excellent student-athletes like Des and Brigid on the team. They, along with the rest of the team, have been working very hard in the offseason, and we're all very excited for the 2016 season to begin", Coach Marion Mendoza.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play. The idea for a softball coaching association first developed from discussions at the National Collegiate Women's Softball Championships in the early 1980s. Although mostly collegiate coaches comprised the organization's membership in the early days, today's college coaches are joined by high school and travel ball/club coaches, umpires, as well as other fans of fastpitch softball. In 1997, the Association's membership reached the 2,000 mark, and today there are more than 4,300 members.
