SOFTBALL: RUIZ HITS CYCLE TO LIFT FULLERTON

In a game that featured a combined 26 runs and 36 hits, the Hornets outlasted Riverside City College 15-11 in an Orange Empire Conference game on the road Tuesday.

Fullerton (18-13 overall, 7-6 OEC) broke a 6-6 tie with four runs in the top of the third inning and never fell behind, although Riverside City (13-15 overall, 5-9 OEC) remained competitive scoring in every inning but the third.

Fullerton pounded out 16 hits, including a three-run home run by starting pitcher Brigid Ruiz in the second inning and a three-run home run by leadoff batter Becca Perez in the third inning. Ruiz was on fire hitting for the cycle going 4-5 with 4 RBI on the day.

Ruiz (18-11) threw the first 5 innings of the game giving up 7 earned runs on 16 hits, with 5 walks, and 2 K's. RP Kylie Patrick tossed the final 2 innings allowing 4 hits with 1 earned run.
