SOFTBALL: HAWKS SHUT-OUT HORNETS

The FC softball team hosted Santiago Canyon College on Friday and took one on the chin in a 6-0 loss.

SCC (29-6, 13-5) scored a run in the second on a hit to center field by Christine Woodling that scored Ashley Clark.

In the third, the Hawks put up two more runs when Monoa Weijgerts hit a single to the right side scoring Emili Olague and Jessica Daniel.

In the fifth, Santiago Canyon scored two runs. Kaitlyn Lanksbury hit a shot to center field allowing Daniel to come home, and Alyssa Sojka's groundout to first gave Riley Nahwold the opportunity to score.

Jordaen Hicks singled to left field bringing Nahwold home in the sixth for the game's final run.

The Hornets were held to two hits on the day while SCC accumulated 11 hits.

FC starter Brigid Ruiz (20-12) went a complete 7 innings allowing 6 earned runs with 3 K's.

Nahwold went 7 innings for the Hawks giving up 2 hits, no run, no walks, and had 1 strikeout.

Up Next: The Hornets (21-15, 10-8) will look to bounce back when they play at Orange Coast College on Wednesday, April 13th. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
