SOFTBALL: HAWKS ESCAPE WITH THE WIN

The Hornets lost a close on one at home Monday against the Hawks 4-2 in a Orange Empire Conference game.

The Hornets had a good start against Santiago Canyon. In the bottom of the 1st inning the Hornets first batter Kaylee Williamson was walked by Molly Smith. Not wanting to leave her teammate stranded on first base, Danielle Rico connected with the ball to sending it out of the park. Rico, 2 RBI Homer gave the Hornets the lead until the top of the 5th inning.

At the top of the 5th inning the Hawks made a comeback and added three more runs to finally take the lead for the remainder of the game. After the Hornets got the first out, Tsianina Flores singled through the left side. Her teammate brought her home by homering to right field 3-2. After doubling to right field Danielle Stallings advanced to third base off of Amber Elliott single to the left side.  Rylie Seip flied out to center field allowing Danielle Stallings to steal third base 4-2. 

Up Next: The Hornets (3-8 overall, 0-4 OEC) will visit Saddleback College on Wednesday, February 28. The game will start at 3:00 pm. On Friday, March 2 the Hornets will travel south to play against San Diego Mesa College. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
