SOFTBALL: HORNETS BREAK OUT BIGTIME

The Hornets snap a five-game losing streak in a big way on the road Wednesday, dominating Orange Empire Conference foe Saddleback College 14-0.

The game was full of hits from the start. In the first inning, Fullerton College exploded for 6 runs knocking the Gauchos off of their game early. Keeping the hitting constant, the Hornets were able to earn 2 runs per inning until the fifth. In total, the Fullerton was able collect 13 hits along with 14 runs throughout five innings of play enforcing the mercy rule.

Short Stop Danielle Rico performed well against the Gauchos with 2 hits 2 runs and 3 RBI. Nia Rodman had 1 run, 2 hits, and 2 RBI. Center fielder Kaylee Williamson had 2 hits and scored 3 runs in her 3 at bats.

Natasha Trujillo (4-5) threw her best game of the season with a 1-hit shutout win. She delivered 4 strikeouts and only walked 1 batter in 3 innings. Relievers Shelby Boehmer and Deanna Gonzalez finished off the game with no hits against. Gonzalez added 2 strikeouts.

Up Next: The Hornets (4-8 overall, 1-4 OEC) will visit San Diego Mesa on Friday, March 2nd. The match will start at 11:00 am. On Saturday, March 3rd Fullerton will play at Grossmont College in a double header. The first game starts at 12:00 pm and the second game starts at 2:00 pm.
