HAWKS FLY PAST HORNETS

HAWKS FLY PAST HORNETS

The Fullerton College softball squad lost a tough one at home on Friday afternoon against Santiago Canyon College 6-2.

The loss puts FC at 7-6 in the Orange Empire Conference standings holding firm to 4th place, while the SCC gives the team an OEC record of 11-3 (3rd place).

Olivia Nunez (2-3) through a competitive complete game giving up 4 earned runs, 10 hits, with 2 walks, and 2 K's. The Hawk's Stella Turner (17-4) earned the win pitching 7 innings with 2 earned runs, 4 hits, 0 walks, and 3 K's.

The Hawks came out swinging the bats early taking a 3-0 lead in the second inning, and then adding another three runs in the top of the third.

Down early 6-0, the Hornets did their best to get back in the game in the bottom of the third putting up two runs. Rachel Varela got the FC fans on their feet hitting a nice double to open the inning. Alendy Aguilar proceeded to knock Varela in on a single to right field. Casey Dufrene punched the ball through the middle of the diamond, giving Aguilar the chance to come home. Unfortunately, that was all the offense that Fullerton could muster taking the conference loss.

Up Next: The Hornets (14-14-1 overall, 7-6 OEC) head to Mt. San Antonio College for non-conference game on Saturday, April 2nd at 5:00 pm.
