BLUE HAWK DOWN

The No. 1 in state Hornets hosted Santiago Canyon College on Tuesday for game one of the OEC series and pulled off a 4-3 comeback win over the Hawks.

With the win, Fullerton bumps its record up to 23-3 overall and 13-0 for the lone first-place slot in the Orange Empire Conference. The Santiago Canyon loss bumps the team to 9-20 overall and 3-10 in the OEC.

Santiago Canyon did not pull any punches in this OEC battle as the Hawks flew out t with a 3-0 lead scoring runs in the first and third innings. Kiana Bell got on from a FC error and Millie Maher took advantage scoring from third in the first inning. Kiana Bell struck again in the top of the third hitting a double to left center field scoring Raneem Kerdiya. Isabella Altamiranothen followed with a single to left center plating Bell.

The Hornets chipped away in the fourth scoring two runs on a home run by Serina Vue that also brought in Jianna Lopez.

In the fifth, Fullerton tied the game up thanks to another RBI by Vue, who SAC flied out to left scoring Alyssa Garcia.

Alyssa Garcia forced in the winning run in the sixth inning when she rocked a hard single through the right-side scoring Haley Garcia from second.

Macy Brandl (14-1) earned the win in relief going 4.2 innings with 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 walk, and 7 Ks. Allyson Fuentes got the start throwing 2.1 innings with earned runs on 4 hits with a walk and 3 Ks.

Up Next: The No. 1 Hornets (23-3 overall, 13-0 OEC) will play at Santiago Canyon College on Thursday, April 11th for game two of the OEC series. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
