ADVANCING TO ROUND TWO!

ADVANCING TO ROUND TWO!

The No. 1 Hornets ended No. 16 Antelope Valley College's season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory that moves Fullerton forward to round two of the 3C2A Southern California Regionals.

Milene Mendoza got things going in the bottom of the third hitting single that scored Veronica Moore and Haley Garcia. Then, in the fourth, Cassidy Hornung hammered a shot deep into the left center gap for an inside-the-park home run. That's all Fullerton needed to score as pitcher Allyson Fuentes and the Hornet defense locked down the win.

Fuentes (17-2) was nothing short of outstanding throwing 7 shutout innings with only 2 hits against. She walked only one batter and had 6 strikeouts.

At the plate, the Hornets racked up 9 hits with Cassidy Hornung having a day going 3 for 3 with a run and RBI. Veronica Moore was 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Up Next: Round Two of the 3C2A Southern California Regionals - No. 1 seeded Fullerton (38-4 overall) will host No. 9 Cerritos (30-12) for a three-game series that will begin on Friday, May 10th at 2:00 pm.
