WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: HORNETS HAVE A NEW HEAD BASKETBALL COACH

Fullerton College Athletics is proud to announce Marcia Foster as the new women's head basketball coach.

Hired as the sixth head coach in the four-decade history of Fullerton College women's basketball, Marcia Foster will take over the Hornet women's basketball program.

Marcia is very familiar with the city of Fullerton as she spent ten seasons coaching Division 1 basketball down the road at Cal State Fullerton. As a Titan, Marcia was an assistant coach for three seasons, an associate head coach for three seasons, and was the head coach the last four seasons. During her time at CSUF, Foster led her teams to 100 wins (which was more than the previous 12 seasons combined) and double-digit win totals in six of the last seven years. She has also coached several Big West All Academic Team members including the 2012 Cal State Fullerton Female Scholar Athlete of the Year Lauren Chow.

Foster also spent one season as the head coach at Cal Tech in Pasadena, CA, and six seasons as an assistant coach at Big West rival Cal Poly, helping turn-around the Mustangs program from four wins in her first season in 1996-97 to 12 wins in 2000-01, advancing to the second round of the Big West Tournament that year and ending perennial power UC Santa Barbara's 49-game conference winning streak during the regular season.

Community service is a big part of Foster's life as she established the "I'll Tell 2" program designed to increase breast cancer awareness for the entire student-athlete population at CSUF and annually participates in the Susan G. Koman "Race for the Cure". With the "I'll Tell 2" program, each player is responsible for telling two other people about the importance of early detection, then asking them to tell two more people as well. Marcia has also been involved with the Special Olympics in San Luis Obispo, led basketball clinics at local schools, was involved with the Hoop for Hearts program, which raises money for The American Heart Association. Marcia also participates in basketball clinics for the Women's Basketball Coaching Association and the Black Coaches Association and been a part of an annual Hoopstars Clinic at CSUF.

Foster played her college ball at Big East contender Seton Hall University (1980-84) where she still holds a few records- 6th in scoring, 12th in blocks, 7th in FG attempts, 7th FG made, 8th in rebounds, 14th FG%, 7th FT made).

Raised in Plainfield, New Jersey, Foster was a standout student-athlete on and off the court. She was inducted into the Plainfield High School Hall of Fame in 2012.
