WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: HOME-OPENING WIN

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: HOME-OPENING WIN

The Hornets held off Rio Hondo College winning their 2013-14 season home-opener 51-44.

FC sophomore guard Tatiana Scott led all scorers with 20 points (4-8 from 3-point range), and had 5 assists to go along with 4 boards.  Kelli Calton just missed a double-double night dropping in 9 points with 9 rebounds.  Noelle Cobb and Carla Castaneda each contributed with 7 points a piece.

The last 3 years all of the women's sports representing different ears have gathered together in November for the home opener of women's basketball to celebrate Colleen Riley (fondly called CR), a true pioneer for all women's sports at Fullerton College. CR coached at Fullerton College for 32 years coaching conference champions, regional champions and state champions in Basketball, Softball, Field Hockey and Tennis.

This year marks the 2nd anniversary of CR's passing from pancreatic cancer and Tuesday, November 26th, was the 2nd Annual FC Women's All-Sport Alumni Night. We began the evening with a tribute to Colleen ... we will always cherish her friendship and admire and respect everything she did for women in sports at Fullerton College. Her partner, Linda Daly was present to enjoy the tribute, as well as former Dean/Athletic Director Dr. Susan Beers. It was Dr Beers that first thought of this women's All-Sport Alumni Night 2 years ago.

Then we recognized the FC women's teams that had success over the past year ... Women's Tennis Team was State Champions last Spring, Women's Water Polo Team was State Runner-up last Fall, Women's Cross Country is 4th in the State this Fall and the Women's Golf Team is State Runner-up this Fall. In addition, the Women's Softball Team attended the event.
