WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: 3 OTS AND A HORNET WIN

The Lady Hornets put their work in at home Friday night beating a strong Saddleback College team 85-81 in the span of 3 overtime periods.

The win bumps Fullerton to 14-5 overall and 3-1 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the loss gives Saddleback an overall record of 10-11 and an OEC record of 1-3.

The Gauchos controlled the game's first nineteen minutes until FC took a one point lead with a minute left in the half.  Saddlebacks managed a 1-point lead by halftime.

The second half proved to be a wild one as there were 6 lead changes and 5 ties that led to overtime.

Kelli Calton's three-point shot was the basket of the night for FC as it sent FC into the third OT as the seconds ticked off of the clock.

In the third OT it was Calton's four successful free throws that locked in the much-needed conference victory. The first two seemed to have finished the game, but Saddleback's Deja Brooks nailed a three-pointer that gave the FC fans a scare at 83-81. Calton successfully caught the in-bound pass and was quickly fouled with a second left. She hit the last two shots from the line earning the win.

Noelle Cobb had a career and game high 38 points with 7 boards. Kelli Calton put up 24 points, had 12 rebounds, and 6 steals. Yana Pollard had 7 blocks and 11 rebounds.

Up Next: Fullerton will take on Cypress College in the Hornets Nest on Friday, January 23rd. Tip off is at 5:00 pm.
