W. SOCCER: BASURTO HONORED AS A STUDENT OF DISTINCTION
Sophomore soccer standout Kaelah Basurto was honored, along with twenty of her classmates, as a Fullerton College Student of Distinction. It is the college's most valued award.
The twenty students have distinguished themselves and are representative of the top scholars at Fullerton College. A ceremony is typically held in the spring, but due to the COVID-19 campus closure a virtual ceremony was organized by the Student Life and Leadership.
Basurto recently signed a scholarship with Cal State Los Angeles, where she will study and play soccer for the Golden Eagles. A two-time All-Orange Empire Conference selection and team captain for FC, Kaelah played in 25 games played this season scoring a team-high 13 goals along with 5 assists.
Students of Distinction is Fullerton College's most distinguished achievement awards program for graduating students. The awards are granted to high achieving students in four achievement categories: academic, service, competitive and personal. Each student who is selected to receive this prestigious award will receive a scholarship sponsored by Associated Students, Dr. Janet and Henry Emoto, various donors from Fullerton College, and the Fullerton College Foundation.
