KNOTTED UP WITH RUSTLERS

In an Orange Empire Conference match, the FC women's soccer team welcomed Golden West to Hornet Field on Tuesday breaking up a three-game losing streak with a 1-1 tie with the Rustlers.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for the Hornets dropping their last three games by a combined score of 15-1 running the gauntlet against the top teams in the state in Saddleback (4-0), Santiago Canyon (3-0), and Cypress (8-1).

Although the FC fell behind early, the Hornets showed heart in this match playing strong defense while goalkeeper Nyla Contreras made many athletic plays with 12 saves.

The Rustlers got on the board in the 20th minute on a strange shot that was called offsides. While the ball bounced off the goal post, Abby Kirby took advantage and kicked the ball in from three four feet out.

Fullerton tied it up in the 36th minute thanks to a nice loop-pass that Kaitlyn Clark sailed over the GWC defenders landing in front of Danielle Narmi, who finished it with a hard kick through the posts.

The second half remained scoreless as FC and GWC played tough defense forcing both teams to settle for the tie.

Up Next: FC (2-9-1 overall, 1-5-1 OEC) travels to Orange Coast College this Friday, October 20th for another OEC match at 3:00 pm.
