WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: PERSONAL RECORDS HAD AT ANTELOPE VALLEY

The Hornets took a trip to Antelope Valley College on Friday for a ten team invitational.

The track meet posted several personal records and the perfect weather helped enhance those performances.

In the throws, Michelle Okoroike put up a big number in the discus with a 114' 2" throw and first time with the javelin 81' 9" was good enough for second place. Her shot put was a small improvement of 31' 8".

Amber Hernandez finally threw over the 100 foot mark just inching over for 100' 1". "I knew I was going to throw over that line today", claimed Hernandez.

Teammates Salena Torres and Marrisa Myers threw their best in the same event with 94' 7" and 92' 5" respectively.

On the track, the Hornet runners were equally exciting with improvements. The 400 meter relay chipped one second off from their previous time and ran 51.61 from Fanny Giron, Samantha Duong, Jasmine Williams, and Jessica Cadman. Fanny Giron is now ranked in the top five for SoCal performances in the 400 meter running 58.22.

Samantha Duong and Jasmine Mendoza took three to four seconds off her 400M hurdle race. Samantha is leading the conference now with 1:04.14 and Jasmine is now in the top six slot with her 1:09.68 performance. Mendoza made a small dent in her 100M hurdle event with a 17.42 PR.
